Mrs. Addie Mae Wimbush Pritchett was born in Patrick County, VA on June 4, 1915. She was the daughter of Abe and Adline Via Wimbush. She departed this life on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA.
She attended Patrick County Schools located in Patrick County, VA.
"Ms. Addie" , as he was affectionately called, was a loving Mother and housewife. She was a domestic worker and caregiver for many years. One of her greatest joys was sewing and making clothes, especially for her children. She was also a avid gardner.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry G. Pritchett, a daughter, Nancee A. Pritchett, four sisters, Rose Belle Via, Lizzie Dixon, Lillie Dixon, Ethel Bowman, three brothers; Lawyer, John and Lester Wimbush.
She was a devoted working member of St. Paul High Street Baptist Church for over 65 years. During this time she was a deaconess, a member of the Willing Workers Club, the Hamlin Workers, and was a former Eastern Star.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother. She always put her family and friends first. She fought a good fight, kept the faith, and finished her course successfully.
Those left to cherish her memories include her sons: Louis H. (Mary) Pritchett of Martinsville, VA; and Warren H. (Debbie) Pritchett of Mount Vernon, NY; one dedicated and loving daughter, Gloria U. Pritchett, of Virginia Beach, VA; one granddaughter, Yolanda D, Newland, two grandsons, Brian C. Pritchett, and Jason Pritchett, one great grandson, Gregory Logan Newland; one sister, Dora Bowman, of Martinsville, VA; one brother, Warren Wimbush, of Patrick County, VA; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul High Street Baptist Church. Rev. Junior Wimbush will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens in Martinsville, VA.
