Albert Samuel Eccles, Sr., 55, of Axton, VA, departed this life on Friday, October 9, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born on July 22, 1954, in Martinsville, VA to the Mary Jamison Eccles and the late Arnette Eccles,Sr.
Albert graduated from Martinsville High School in 1973. He decied that he had to pursue his educational dreams further and with the encouragement of his wife's grandmother, Fannie Smith, he decided to attend Danville Community College. He worked full-time at Martin Processing to support his family and attended school at night, until he graduated in 1985, which he received a degree in Appliance technology. After graduating, he became the owner and operator of Eccles Appliance Repair and Service. This business has grown from a few hundred to thousands of customers all over Martinsville/Henry County, Rocky Mount, Danville, and various areas in North Carolina. He was often known as the "Appliance Man."
Albert loved many things, but he loved the Lord the most. He was a member of Mount Olive East Christian Church in the Preston Community. Albert played lead guitar and loved to praise God with music. Albert was an anointed musician and he would often say, that "I just close my eyes and and let the Lord guide my fingers." Another very important part of Albert's life was his family. He was married to his best friend, Frances for 35 years. He often bragged on his children because they listened to his advice and made him proud. About seven years ago, he was blessed with a granddaughter, Brianna and she became his "doll baby", and a few years later Christian came along to be his "basketball player". He not only loved his immediate family, but he truly loved his brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and community. Albert loved everybody and you truly knew this by his smile that you received when you were in his presence.
Those left to cherish his memories, are: his mother, Mary J. Eccles of Martinsville, VA; his wife, Frances, of the home; one son Albert, Jr., of Washington, DC; one daughter, Lisa Eccles (James) Millner, of Ridgeway, VA; two grandchildren, Brianna and Christian Millner, of Ridgeway, VA; two brothers, Arnette Eccles, Jr., of New Jersey; and Johnnie Eccles, of Martinsville, VA; three sisters, Sandra Eccles (Walter) Wesley of Martinsville, VA; Willis "Genie" Jones, of Martinsville, VA; and Ginger Eccles Rouse, of Eden, NC; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
