Baxter Culler Hairston, Sr., 83, of 908 West Fayette Street in Martinsville, departed this life on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at his home.
He was born in Henry County, on February 28, 1927 to the late Early and Ollie Koger Hairston.
He was a self employed contractor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Millner Hairston and one son, Baxter C. Hairston, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Ronald Hairston, of Martinsville, VA; six daughters, Brenda Martin, Billie Coles and Cheryl Hairston, all of Martinsville, VA; Vanessa Hairston, of Axton, VA; Regena Penn, of Roanoke, VA; and Ollie Thomas, of Dover, DE; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind, a loving and devoted companion, Margaret Martin, of Martinsville, VA; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
