Bryan Christopher "Flying Bryan" Rorrer, 23, departed this life on October 3, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born September 17, 1987 to Lesley Rorrer and the late Claudia "Berta" Jamison Rorrer. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eliza B. Jamerson and Sam Jamison; his paternal grandfather, Raymond Rorrrer; a brother, Derrick Rorrer; one aunt, Janet T. Venable; and one uncle, John L. Johnson
He attended Martinsville City Schools. He later moved and attended schools in Philadelphia, PA. He then returned and completed his studies at Franklin County High School.
Bryan was employed by Whitlock Plumbing and Heating for four years. He was a member of Refuge Temple Ministries and the Give Back Foundation, both in Martinsville, VA.
Bryan enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews. His hobbies were bass fishing, deer hunting, kayaking and working on cars or anything mechanical. "Flying Bryan" as he was called by many of his friends and family was very easy going and kept a soothing smile on his face.
In addition to his father, he also leave to cherish his memory: a special aunt, who was also his "mother", Lily Jamison, of Martinsville, VA; his paternal grandmother, Louise Mabry, of Bassett, VA; four brothers, Vincent Jamison, of Greensboro, NC; Rodrickus (LaTika) Jamison, of Edgefield, SC; Michael Rorrer, of Fort Dix, NJ; and Johnathan Rorrer, of Franklin County, VA; three sisters, Tenisha and Laquita Jamison, both of Martinsville, VA; and Leah Sinclair, of Salem, VA; four aunts, Linda Venable-Lee, of Catonsville, MD; Vanessa J. (Donnell) Hairston, of Martinsville, VA; Kathy Carroll and Emily Rorrer, both of Franklin County, VA; four uncles, Wesley (Elaine) Rorrer, of Roanoke, VA; Warren Terry, of North Wilkesboro, NC; Samuel F. Jamison, of Blackstone, VA; and Charlie M. Jamison of Martinsville, VA; a step-mother, Beverly Williams Rorrer; three step-brothers, James E. Byrd, Jr., Jamarcus Nash, Jacolby Byrd all of Philadelphia, PA; one step-sister, Jakella Byrd, of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, a very special and dear friend, Shiketia Shiday Walton, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010 at 12:00 Noon at Refuge Temple Ministries with Elder Alan Preston, officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park.
