Cecil Ray Brown, devoted husband and father, departed this life and peacefully went on to glory on Tuesday, November 30, 2010. He was 58 years of age. Cecil was born on September 30, 1952 in Thorpe, West Virginia to Annie Mae Hairston Brown and the late Walter Roy Brown.
He was a graduate of Martinsville High School class of 1971. Cecil was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart and best friend Gloria, and two this union they were blessed to have three wonderful children. Cecil was dedicated to God, his family and his church, where he served as chairman of the Deacon board, Trustee board, and sang on the male chorus. He was a former member of the Gospel Choir, and former President of the Missionary Department before his illness.
He was employed by Tultex Corporation for more than 29 years as a computer operator for the dye house. He was last employed at RF Micro-Devices in Greensboro, NC where he worked until August 2010. RFMD became his extended family, and he loved his co-workers. Cecil never met a stranger and he acquired the gift of hospitality, helps, patience, gentleness, encouragement, and he never complained no matter what the situation. He was full of wisdom, humor, and he never gave anyone bad advise. If he couldn't help you, he certainly wouldn't hurt you. He had a smile that was nothing but lovable and he would literally give the shirt off his back if he thought someone else needed it worse than him.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Annie Mae Brown, of Martinsville, VA; his devoted wife, Gloria Law Brown, of the home; two daughters, Tammel Tinsley, of Martinsville, VA; and Kristen Brown, of the home; one son, Cecil (Bubba) Brown, Jr., of the home; one sister, Margaretta Clark, of Martinsville, VA one brother, Darian (Jennifer) Brown, of Ridgeway, VA; six grandchildren, Nachel, Cameron, Jakeese, Alexis, Christian and Gionna; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends, a second mom, Peggy Hollander, and adopted daughter, Angie Courts, and the entire RFMD family.
