Clyde Vaughn Hairston, Sr., 71, of 1432 Columbus Drive, Bassett,
Virginia died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Wake Forest University
Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He
was born to the late Archie Price Hairston, Sr., and Thelma
Elizabeth Hairston on September 1, 1939. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Anthony A. Hairston
and two brothers, James Hairston and Benjamin Hairston.
Clyde was educated in the Henry County Public School System. He
retired after 28 years of service from E. I. DuPont Company.
He also was self-employed, owning Clyde V. Hairston General
Contracting for the past 28 years. He was a member of
Paradise Temple Worship Center in Ridgeway, VA where he served as
chairman of the Deacon Board and a member of the Trustee Board.
Surviving are his wife, Coreen Johnson Hairston, of the home;
two sons, Clyde V. Hairston, Jr., of Bassett, VA; and Adam T.
Hairston, of Chesterfield, VA; one daughter, Cynthia (Earl) Dodson,
of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, Archie P. (Evelene) Hairston,
Jr., of Bassett, VA; and William L. (Faye) Hairston, of
Martinsville, VA; a sister in law, Juanita Hairston, three
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces,
nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 12:00
Noon at the Greater International Pentecostal Holiness Church in
Martinsville, VA with Bishop Joseph Mayo, officiating. Burial
will follow in the Hairston Family Cemetery in Bassett, VA.
