On Sunday, December 13, 2009, Glenor Doris Divens changed her residence from Earth to Glory.

Born on May 30, 1919, in Henry County, VA to the late Johnny and Verna Bell Hodge, Glenor was a loving mother, grandmother and caregiver to many.  She devoted her life to her family, friends and community.  Glenor was a wonderful homemaker.  You could go to her home anytime and find homemade biscuits and preserves. Most of all, you would find a home filled with love.  She was a fixture in the Stoney Mountain community.  When driving through the area, you may see her on the porch, in the garden, or planting flowers which was something she loved to do.  Glenor was a member of Bethel United Way of the Cross Church.  Each Sunday, she would get dressed and wait patiently by the door until her ride arrived.  She enjoyed Sunday Morning Worship Service.  During service, you could occassionally catch a glimpse of her tapping her foot and softly clapping.

She was a shining example to her family and friends and possessed a profound inner strength.  The words "can't and "no" were not a part of her vocabulary.  She did whatever she could to be of assistance to anyone in need.  When she was diagnosed with cancer, she was told that she only had 3 ot 6 months to live.  That diagnosis was given to her nearly 5 years ago.  With the help of the Lord, she beat the odds and exceeded everyone's expectations.  As always she did things her way.

Glenor leaves to cherish her memory five children:  James N. (Thelma) Divens, Jimmie Divens, Johnny L. Divens, Janie B. (Louis) Barksdale, and Jerry W. Divens, all of Martinsville, VA; four sisters, Annie Hairston, Bonnie Hairston, Lucille Ritson, all of Martinsville, VA and Shirley Patterson, of Cascade, VA; two brothers, Johnny Ben Hodge, of Martinsville, VA and Goley Hodge, of Columbus, OH; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Bethel United Way of the Cross Church, in Danville, VA.  Bishop John A. Campbell will officiate.  Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens in Martinsville, VA
