Mr. Jesse James Dillard, 83, of 2190 Carver Road, Martinsville, Virginia died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born in Henry County, Virginia on February 28, 1926 to the late Patrick and Mariah Hodge Dillard.
Jesse was retired from Pillowtex as a warehouseman after 45 years of service and from the Henry County Public School System as a custodian at George Washington Carver High School. He was a member of Meadow Christian Church (DOC).
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Esther Gravely Dillard, of the home; one daughter, Barbara D. Fitzgerald, of the home; one sister, Nannie D. Martin, of Martinsville, VA; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Moral Hill Missionary Baptist Church, in Axton, VA with Rev. Dr. Thurman O, Echols, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens in Martinsville, VA.
