Joe Louis "Buck" Tarpley, Jr., son of Joe Louis Tarpley, Sr., and the late Barbara Pritchett Tarpley was born on March 4, 1957.  He passed into eternal glory on Saturday, April 10, 2010.

Buck received his education in the Pittsylvania County Public School System and was a 1975 graduate of Tunstall High School.  He enlisted in the U. S. Army right after graduation.  He also attended National Business College in 1982.

At an early age Buck accepted Christ at Tarpley's Chapel Baptist Church.

Buck was united in marriage to Nannie Olivia Dickerson on August 19, 1982 and to this union two sons were born.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and caring wife:  Nannie of the home; his father, Joe Louis, Sr., of Axton, VA; two sons, Joseph "Little Buck" Strange, of Cascade, VA; and Skylar Tarpley, of the home; one step-son, Tony Dickerson, of Danville, VA; one step-daughter, Renee (Joe) Petty, of Danville, VA; two sisters, Wanda "Libby" (Larry) Brandon, of Axton, VA; and Theressa Joanne Booker, of Clarksville, TN; two brothers, James Fentriss and David Lee (Delaine) Tarpley, both of Axton, VA; one step-granddaughter, Kiera Petty, of Danville, VA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 at 12:30 PM at Tarpley's Chapel Baptist Church with Minister Janice Carter officiating.  Burial will follow in the Tarpley Family Cemetery in Axton, VA.
