On Tuesday, November 17, 2009, God accepted Mary Jane to live with him in his eternal home. Mary Jane was born to the late Sam H. and Lucy Starkey Taylor on February 21, 1919.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Louise Green; six brothers, Howard, George, Warren, William, Raymond and Charlie taylor.
She was a faithful member of Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She served as a Deaconess, Usher Board and the Kitchen Committee.
Surviving are: her friend, her lifetime love, her husband for 69 years, Fulton Green, Sr., one daughter, Mary (Eugene) Martin, of Fieldale, VA; two sons, Cleveland (Sherva) Green, Sr., of Martinsville, VA and Fulton (Linda) Green, of Fieldale, VA; four sisters, Cora Taylor, of Wirtz, VA; Beatrice harper, of Boones Mill, VA; Dosha Bonds, of Hardy, VA; and Sarah Blount, of Mt. Vernon, NY; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services, will be held Saturday, November 22, 2009 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Harmon, officiating. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens in Martinsville, VA.
