On Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, NC Mrs. Virginia Viola "Ve" Morris Jones departed this life. "Ve" as she was affectionately called was born, September 11, 1951 in Henry County, VA, a daughter of the late James and Nellie Hairston Morris. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, James H. and William T. Morris and one sister Lillie Morris Hairston.
She attended G. W. Carver High School and completed her education at Patrick Henry Community College.
"Ve" was formerly employed by Bassett-Walker and Stanley Furniture and was a member of Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Frank Jones, of the home; her adopted son, Devon Anderson, of Roanoke, VA; one step-daughter, Bennetta Gregory, of Gretna, VA; three sisters, Cindy Johnson, Elnora Morris and Marilyn (Barry) Hylton, all of Martinsville, VA; and one brother, Paul (Nita) Morris, of Martinsville, VA; two step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Kelvin Smith, will officiate. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Gardens.
